Diego bought his first piece of land in Jardin, Colombia, using the savings he earned from years of working with his father on their family farm.
Diego established his coffee farm on his land soon after purchasing it. He immediately joined the local cooperative because he could see the advantages it offered to farmers. The cooperative provided him with agricultural training, technical support for hand-picking coffee cherries, and access to established warehouses within walking distance of local farms.
Westrock is honored to work with local cooperatives like Diego’s that ensure fair, on-time payment to every farmer they purchase from. After more than 20 years, Diego remains in Jardin with his wife and three children, where he still benefits from his association with the cooperative while continuously producing great coffee.
